· Salvation Army: Offers long-term, faith-based residential rehabilitation programs (ARC - Adult Rehabilitation Centers). They are often free but require work therapy.

How to Find Resources in Smaller or Rural Counties
For counties not listed above (e.g., Smith, Lubbock, McLennan, Nueces, El Paso, etc.), follow this exact process:
1. Call 2-1-1: Tell the operator your county and that you need substance abuse treatment or sober living resources. They have the most current database.
2. Identify the Local Mental Health Authority (LMHA): Every county in Texas is served by an LMHA. They are the gateway to state funding.
· How to find it: Google "[County Name] Texas LMHA" or "Local Mental Health Authority". You can also find a full list on the Texas HHSC website.
3. Contact County Health Department: They often have lists of licensed treatment providers and recovery resources.
4. Search for Local Faith-Based Programs:
· Google "faith-based recovery [County Name] TX" or "Christian sober living [City Name] TX".
· Call the largest churches in the county and ask if they have a recovery ministry (like Celebrate Recovery) or if they know of faith-based programs they recommend.
· Search the Celebrate Recovery meeting finder for that county. The meeting leader will have the best local knowledge.
Final Important Notes on Funding
· Insurance: Always check with your private health insurance provider first. They have networks of approved treatment facilities.
· Medicaid/Medicare: If you have this coverage, contact providers directly to see if they accept it.
· Sliding Scale: Many non-profit facilities offer fees based on your income.
· Payment Plans: Most private treatment centers offer payment plans.
· Scholarships: Some non-profit organizations and treatment centers have limited scholarship funds. You must ask directly and often.
