  • NH DHHS – Recovery Housing – State info hub on recovery housing; includes links to resources and how it fits into the system of care.
  • The Doorway (NH.gov) – NH’s 9-region intake system (call 211 or use the Doorway map). They can place people into treatment levels and often help with recovery housing referrals and limited short-term scholarship aid.
  • Oxford House (peer-run sober homes) – Self-governed recovery houses with vacancies listed by state; search for New Hampshire locations and vacancy contacts.

  • White Horse Recovery (Ossipee / N. Conway / Littleton) – Nonprofit offering secular and faith-based SUD and mental-health services; recovery supports and groups.
  • Lydia’s House of Hope (Somersworth)Faith-based, 12-month residential transitional housing for women with children (focus on homelessness + recovery stability).

Tip: Many faith-based homes will consider partial scholarships or sliding fees if you ask; pair these with the funding options below.


Funding: state & local (big programs)

  • The Doorway (SOR-funded) – SOR (State Opioid Response) funds back the Doorway network; regional Doorways sometimes have limited funds or can connect you to short-term sober living scholarships. Call 211 for your regional Doorway.
  • NH Housing – Opioid Use Disorder Supportive Housing Capital Program – Capital funding (0% deferred loans) to create supportive housing for households affected by OUD (useful to providers/houses; improves statewide supply). FY25 NOFO ran Jan–Mar 2025; more rounds expected. Contacts listed on the page.
  • NH CDFA – Recovery Housing Program (RHP) – HUD-authorized capital grants for acquisition/rehab/new construction of recovery housing; administered via municipalities/nonprofits; partnered with NHCORR & NH Housing. (Capital development—not rent aid—but expands bed capacity.)

Funding: direct help & scholarships (small to medium)

  • The Doorway & NHCORR scholarship access – A statewide Q&A notes Doorways and NHCORR have access to sober-living scholarships; ask your local Doorway and NHCORR for current funds.
  • Chucky’s Fight (NH nonprofit) – Provides sober-living scholarships to NH residents; widely used locally (WMUR coverage, NH Magazine profile). Start here for small grants to cover entry/first month.
  • ARCHway Institute – HOPE Fund – Typical $500 micro-grants to help with first month of sober living or MAT entry; open to NH residents.
  • The Family Restored (New England)Treatment & sober living scholarships for people willing to engage in 12-step recovery; NH applicants welcome.
  • Face Addiction Now – Offers sober-living scholarships (availability varies).

How to use this (fast path)

  1. Call 211 → Ask for “The Doorway” in your region and say you need recovery housing / sober living and help with funding. They can screen and route you, and sometimes help with scholarship placements.
  2. Check NHCORR for certified homes; call houses directly for bed availability and fees. Ask if they accept Doorway/NHCORR scholarships.
  3. Apply for small scholarships the same day (Chucky’s Fight, ARCHway, The Family Restored). Ask the sober house manager for letters/estimates to attach.
  4. If you’re a provider or municipality building capacity, review NH Housing OUD Supportive Housing & CDFA RHP capital programs.
